Are you interested in making art through the mail and in person?

Would you like to bring a queer and joyful focus to art making and archiving?

A project titled Pride/Swell Petit: Exploring Queer Joy and Worldmaking with 2SLGBTQ+ Children, Youth, and Families led by Dr. Casey Burkholder (Concordia University), is looking for participants who are 2SLGBTQI+ and between the ages of 14-30 to join the first phase of the research project. The study is also seeking queer families with children (5+) to participate in the research. All family members are invited to participate, including families with queer and trans parents and children. Family members who do not identify as queer or trans are also invited to participate with their queer and trans siblings and/or parents. All project participants, both youth (14-30) and families (5-45+), will be sent 12 packages of art supplies (1 per month) and a prompt to engage in art making. Participants will be invited to monthly online art making workshops, and in-person workshops at Concordia University (art supplies and instructions will be provided via the mail and in person).

The goal of the project is to work within a community of youth and families from across Quebec on a project committed to developing queer solidarity building and community art making, exhibition, and archiving. The artwork we co-create will be archived on a dedicated project website if participants so choose.

If you are interested in participating, or if you have questions, please contact casey.burkholder@concordia.ca.
